The process of Search Engine Optimization involves the strategic placement of Key words and Meta Tags while focusing on those keywords you wish to be found with on search engines.
It is not enough to simply add META tags and do search engine submission of your site to a million search engine indexes and directories. The first placement step is to working with a great content rich site. Focusing on your target audience with those key words and phrases you feel they will search for your business with. It is very important for these keywords and keyword phrases to be visible on your web site!
More importantly is being as specific as possible with those key words. The more unique the better! For instance if I wanted my company Your Page Today, to be found with front page results for the keywords: “web design” then I had better give google.com a call and pay them directly for that guaranteed placement because there are millions of other web design
companies attempting to be found with those key words as well, AND most of them are paying for that high ranking placement of those specific keywords. However I will be successful in targeting my audience with my own unique key words such as “custom web design MA” or “small business web design Worcester MA”.
The next step, and a very vital step is researching the key words specific to your web site which involves strategic researchand testing out those keywords on all major search engines. The final step is the proper submission of your site to the search engine or directories you wish to be found under.
