Is your SEO strategy missing chess pieces??
If you have ever played the game of SEO, then you know it is an intricate game of strategy. Similar to chess and like chess it takes time to master.
When planning your SEO strategy you need to strategically place your SEO components, just as you would your pawns and rooks to protect the overall army known as your web site.
The more you plan, the more successful your strategic game of rankings will be; it is all a matter of understanding the game!
If you were to relate your SEO elements to your chess pieces it would look something like this:
King: the king is your website—the most powerful element you have. But, without the proper defensive and offensive strategies backing him up he cannot retain his power.
Queen: your second most powerful piece on your SEO board is your queen, who represents your content. Having up-to-date and relevant content will empower your queen to work both offensively and defensively. Your queen of content works by both attracting website hits (offense) and keeping users interested (defense).
Bishops: your bishops are a part of your defensive strategy, which is why they are so close to your king. Bishops represent inbound linking as they have the ability to backup the king (your website) by providing power and backup your queen (content) by providing additional content. This makes them critical to your SEO game.
Rooks: your rooks are part of your offensive strategy, their ability to cover great distances and strike make them your most powerful offensive tool. Your SEO rooks are your blog articles. Their ability to attract a large amount of new visitors makes them critical to your offensive strategy. Your blog article rooks also support your queen of content by providing new and fresh material.
Knight: the shining knight has always historically been the flashiest of the offensive strategy—which is why they represent the new-age offensive strategy of social media. Your social media efforts unite your offensive strategy by linking blog articles, website updates, and customer interaction all in one place.
Pawns: your pawns are your pages. Pawns and pages are both numerous, of the least significance individually but present a united front when working together. Without your pawns (pages) you have no army to attack offensively with or to guard defensively. Without the bulk of your army your other pieces would fall off your SEO chess board. You need your pawns to breech the enemy lines—eventually becoming more powerful tools.
Overall Strategy
Your components of SEO should be strategically aligned the way you successfully align your chess pieces. They should all work together both offensively and defensively, in order to conquer your competition. The better and more tightly knit your strategy, the more powerful your rankings will be.
