How to Minimize Spam

what is spam? Some of you may be wondering, what is spam? While others are thinking, I am sick and tired of all of this spam! So lets start at the beginning, and learn what it is and how to Minimize Spam! Spam is flooding the Internet with many copies of the same message, in an attempt to force the message on people who would not otherwise choose to receive it. Most spam is commercial advertising, often for dubious products, get-rich-quick schemes, or some other stuff you just don’t need!

How are these jerks getting your email, you may be wondering? Email spam lists are often created by scanning forum or blog postings, stealing Internet mailing lists, or searching the Web for addresses.

So what does this mean? It means that while you cannot stop spam 100%, there ARE some things that you can do to minimize the amount of spam you receive.

Practice these tips and tricks and you should see your spam minimized greatly:

1: When you subscribe to a forum/blog and post a message, leave your email anonymous to the readers so that they cant add your email to their spam list.

2:
Don’t subscribe to someone’s email list unless they promise not to sell or spam your email address!!

3: Hide your email address from spam harvesting robots online! WHAT the heck does this mean?? It means that not all of the spam you are receiving is directly from a human! It means that there are programs written that are launched and automatically grab your email address from your web site! It means that if your email address is hidden, then unless you are a human and can see the email or copy and paste the email, then those bots cant see it. Hiding your email wont stop spam, again some email harvesters are human …hiding email wont stop them, but MOST are bots!

OK so how do I hide it? If you are the one that manages your web site, and you are tech savvy enough to get into your web page code, (html) then you can do this your self, otherwise, give your web developer a call and have them do it for you.
Go to this web site: http://www.mways.co.uk/prog/hidemail.php then follow the directions on the page and add the code generated to your site anywhere you will have a contact link!!
